Samsung Galaxy M42 5G review 2021
The Samsung Galaxy M42 5G was officially announced on April 28, 2021.
The device has a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a 720 x 1600 pixel resolution. The device comes in Prism. Black and Prism. Gray. The smartphone is integrated with a hybrid dual SIM (nano-SIM, dual stand-by).
The Samsung Galaxy M42 5G packs with 6GB and 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. Memory can be enhanced with the help of MicroSDXC (Dedicated Slots). It is powered by a removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery + fast charging 15 W.
Design
The Galaxy M4 5G is not a great phone! Instead of what Xiaomi and Realm are trying to offer, it doesn’t go away and instead sticks to a simple design. However, Hence tries to compensate for the dull design it introduced in 2021. Thus, the dual-tone texture, which is placed in the right corner, creates a rainbow design. Something surprising not to dislike our phone. It can be preferred for those looking for simplicity with some fantasy.
The device runs for a “glass” chassis, which gives us a lightweight phone while ensuring decent building quality. This is something that is always desirable.
However, there is one thing that works as a bit of a turn-off. The phone is always seen to attract fingerprints and is often needed to remove the back panel. You will want to keep a cloth easily. This can be solved using the case. Sadly, there is no freebie in the box so you have to buy one. I wish Samsung would try to include lawsuits with at least budget / mid-range offers still following Casomi and Realm.
The Galaxy M42 5G is a decently built phone, it can have many recipients. However, some ‘extraordinary’ would have been better.
Display
The 6.. 6-inch display is big enough for a comfortable viewing experience but the groove may not help but sticks like a sore thumb in pain. Maybe, waterway groovers don’t feel it. The happy moment here is the Super AMOLED screen, which Samsung has always done right.
However, it is sadly associated with HD + screen resolution which leaves a void in the whole viewing experience. I’m not sure why Samsung chose it but it’s a deal that could have left it, considering Xiaomi and Realm doing enough to beat Samsung in its own game. Also, gamers and a large number of explorers may be disappointed that the phone is stuck at the traditional 60Hz refresh rate.
Camera
The phone has four rear cameras, but instead of taking part in the current megapixel battle, it’s stuck in a texture that we’ve been looking at for quite some time: a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 5-megapixel depth sensor, and a 5 – Megapixel macro camera. The front camera is rated at 20-megapixels.
The phone clicks good photos, especially in good light. The pictures are detailed. It’s topped with a dollop of uniqueness and you’ll find yourself with some interesting photos, especially the surrounding green! Ultra-wide lenses are capable of giving quite a wide view but it is often slightly extended. The good thing is the color reproduction and details are just as good as the original camera. There is support for zooming up to 10x. This helps capture any distant object but be prepared for some grain, which is directly proportional to the level of zoom.
As for the video, the phone can record at 30fps in 4K. The output is bright and detailed. You can use an ultra-wide lens and zoom up to 10x, but compromised detail will result. Lack of OIS makes the output shaky, so when you are recording a video in a moving car.
Performance, Battery, OS
The phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chip, which is available on the Xiaomi Mi 10i and Motorola Moto G5G, both of which performed well. Therefore, I was expecting the same with the Samsung phone. And, it was proven. My use, which involves some calling, messaging, watching videos, clicking photos, playing games, and looking for countless answers on the web, is very well managed. The phone allows a smooth ride. However, there are some speed breakers while traveling which make the phone a bit clumsy.
The gaming was decent too. I have tried different games this time. I tried Brain Test, Bubble Shooter and who? Call to Duty: Mobile (high graphics and high frame rate), the phone ensures decent gameplay with no toll on battery life. For the COD, there was no heating or any significant battery drop.
There is a 5000mAh battery, which is big enough for one day’s use. If the scale of your usage is reduced a little, it can be easily increased for a day and a half. However, here is another compromise! Samsung has added a 15W fast charging, requiring one hour and 45 minutes to fully charge the phone. It’s definitely not faster in terms of continuing to excel in the segment than the phones of competitors like Xiaomi and Realm.
