Design and features
In terms of design, the Galaxy A21s is just as attractive as Samsung’s recent release. Of course, it’s made of plastic and it’s not sandwiched between protective layers of glass, but the Galaxy A21s has a minimal screen bezel and an unforgettable hole-punch groove in the top-left corner.

Display
In order to save a bit of money, the Galaxy A21s uses a PLS display (which is effectively the same as a regular IPS panel) with a low resolution of 1,600 x 720. This isn’t great by modern standards, especially since the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 and Realme 6 both benefit from pixel-packed Full HD screens.
Notably, for a Samsung phone, there aren’t multiple display profiles to choose from and sadly what we get isn’t all that special. In technical tests, it covers 843% SRGB colored gamut, only 6% of the total volume. Color accuracy is not up to scratch, a measured delta of 4.23 with light green and dark red tones make some colors look particularly dull.
Performance and battery
The Galaxy A21s is powered by Samsung’s Homebrew Exynos 980 chipset, with a maximum clock speed of 2GHz, backed by 3G RAM. With this processor we have reviewed a phone for the first time and from the look of things it is mostly used in a handful of Vivo smartphones that it does not tend to make on the UK coast.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy A21s work almost works but for the price you’ll find the phones faster. You can’t expect the same speed as its Qualcomm and MediaTek-based rivals, but the Galaxy A21s rarely feels unresponsive or lazy. It may take a while for the lot to get longer on the screen after it is successfully unlocked. But it’s about.
If you think about battery life which I think is significant is that it is a more important metric, you are present for a real deal with the Galaxy A21s. In our standard battery rundown test, where we set the screen to 170cd/m², switch flight mode, and play a looped video, 21s shots in the Galaxy lasted 22 hours 48 minutes. It’s the next best phone on the graph, five hours longer than the Realm 6.
Cameras

With the exception of a slightly weaker aperture on the main camera, the design of the Galaxy A21’s cameras is similar to that of the Xiaomi Redmi Note9, due to the current lockdown restrictions, I couldn’t compare directly to two phones in the same scene, but the Galaxy A21s was able to take a great picture regardless.
On a very hot day in London, the main camera took a fairly bright picture of the canal boats sinking in the Poplar Marina, as well as the nearby Ghee and Hans families. It takes 12MP images by default – the 48MP option is located in Pro mode – but both settings manage to create surprisingly rich images with lots of vitality.
Verdicts
Video spread to one side, the rest of the Galaxy A21s is a sure success. It’s no surprise that Samsung has carefully chosen the right components for the grandeur of the budget, and the most popular phones from the virtual doors of the Carphone warehouse continue to be the low-cost Samsung these days. I don’t see that change anytime soon.
The Galaxy A21s is another fashionable choice for phone buyers who are not interested in handing out flagship-sized numbers for their latest upgrade. It will continue to compete against budget hallmarks like Xiaomi and Motorola, along with the swollen list in Samsung’s fleet, but the Galaxy A21s has exceeded expectations.
